Choro (in Portuguese “cry,” “lament”) is a Brazilian folk music genre that originated in the 19th century and strongly influenced the development of many later musical styles, from samba to bossa nova. Since 2018, the Club ChoroTrieste in Trieste has been dedicated to exploring this musical tradition. In relaxed jam sessions, it brings together musicians from Austria, Slovenia, France, Portugal, Italy, and Brazil.
Their musical project offers the audience a journey through the diversity of Brazilian music: the emotional chorinho, the gentle bossa nova, the danceable xote & baião, and the wild samba.
The audience is invited to join the lively and relaxed atmosphere of improvisations, rhythms, and melodies that the musicians weave into their unique samba jazz.
