The concert When Opera Kisses Pop is a true delight for every opera lover, especially fans of crossover pop-opera. In a single evening, audiences will hear unforgettable duets from The Phantom of the Opera, Barcelona, The Prayer, Time to Say Goodbye, the most famous songs and duets from Slovenian and international musicals, and the most beautiful arias and duets of all time – from operas Carmen, Rusalka, Turandot, La Traviata, as well as from the operetta The Merry Widow. To make sure there is something for everyone, the program will also be spiced with timeless Slovenian songs, world mega-hits, and Eurovision successes.
All the songs will be performed by one of Slovenia’s finest opera singers, mag. art. Alenka Gotar, who studied in Switzerland and earned her master’s degree at the renowned Mozarteum in Salzburg. She has built an exceptional international operatic career, was a soloist in both Slovenian national opera houses, and successfully represented Slovenia at Eurovision. She will be joined by her husband Anže Šuštar, one of Slovenia’s best vocalists, who gained recognition at the famous Poletna noč concert on Ljubljana’s Kongresni trg with the Symphony Orchestra and Big Band of RTV Slovenia. He is the author and performer of numerous megahits, an outstanding singer, a regular guest on RTV Slovenia shows, and a musical theatre actor.
An evening of the most beautiful melodies ever written will undoubtedly be one of the finest cultural enrichments of the Slovenian music scene wherever the Gotar-Šuštar duo performs. At the same time, it will be an unforgettable experience for all music lovers and for everyone who still believes in love.
