The group Ansambel Upanje consists of four friends from Zagojiči near Ptuj – Niko Zorko, Žiga Viher, Klemen Zavec, and Marcel Šafarič – who grew up together as neighbors and started making music at a very young age. Their official musical journey began in 2013 with their first television appearance.
The ensemble performs Slovenian folk and party music (Slovenian, Croatian, Yugoslav rock), with a special focus on male vocal harmonies. They perform at a wide range of events – from village fêtes and birthday parties to anniversaries, religious ceremonies, festivals, and club events.
The group’s name expresses their belief in music and connection with the audience: “Hope dies last.”
Band members:
Niko Zorko – band leader, accordion, keyboards, vocals
Žiga Viher – bass guitar, baritone, vocals
Klemen Zavec – rhythm and electric guitar, vocals

To date, they have released 10 original songs, including Daj mi gumico nazaj, Sanjal sem, Nedosegljiva, and Hišica ob morju. Their music regularly features at festivals and has received numerous awards, including the Orfej for Best Ensemble and several audience choice awards.
