The Flaming Stars Band was formed in 1995 at the initiative of singer Oscar Chersa, who wanted to create the first major tribute to the King of Rock’n’Roll, Elvis Presley, in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.
In 1997, Oscar performed in Memphis, in front of Graceland, as the representative of the Italian Elvis fan club. He participated in several television shows, including Carramba che sorpresa on RAI1 with Raffaella Carrà, Domenica In on RAI1, and Caro amico Elvis on RAI3 with Renzo Arbore.
He brought to the stage the production The Memphis Gospel Project – The Roots of Elvis at the Teatro Politeama Rossetti in Trieste in 2009 and 2011. Among the many musicians involved in the project were Tony Soranno (guitarist for De André and Celentano), James Thomson (Zucchero’s saxophonist), Lucienne Loncina (British singer), the FVG Gospel Choir led by Rudy Fantin, and many others.
