The Izola Male Choir is the successor of a long tradition of singing in the seaside town of Izola, where various mixed, male and other vocal ensembles have successfully performed in the past. It was founded in 2005, then under the leadership of the experienced choirmaster Mirjana Bonin, who remained faithful to the choir for more than five years, carrying out the difficult and very important initial work of this ensemble. Today, the choir's repertoire includes folk and art choral compositions by various authors, nations and themes. The singers sing with feeling love, wine, partisan and sacred hymns both a capella and accompanied by various instruments. He regularly participates in the Primorska poje magazine and has sung at the traditional choral event "At Bonfire Night" in Škocjan, at the Hungarian choir festival in Monostru and at many events in Slovenia and abroad. The singers are especially happy and proud to take part in municipal and local events, as well as in numerous occasional performances in their own town, where together with the people of Izola they strive for the yearly growth of the voices joining the choir, as well as for the ever better expressed quality of their singing recreation. The choir currently has 22 singers. Their future-oriented goals are mainly to increase the complexity of the singing repertoire, to project concert planning for the next singing years and to recruit as many singers as possible, future members of the choir, from the wider surroundings of Izola. In the years to come, the choir hopes to carry the Mediterranean flavour and the multiculturalism of the seaside town convincingly in its activities, and thus to become recognisable in its characteristic multilingualism.
