Film: Gora Rocka - Live cinema
Location: Art Kino Odeon Izola
Organizer: Gora Rocka
Time: 7.00 pm
The documentary Gora Rocka is coming to Izola, taking audiences into the heart of one of Slovenia’s most unique festivals – an event that has been proving for more than two decades that music can bring people together while creating positive change in the community.
The new film by renowned director Miran Zupanič reveals the behind-the-scenes story of the Gora Rocka festival on the Šentviška plateau in the Tolmin area, through energetic concert moments and personal stories. It is a charity rock festival co-created each year by more than 360 volunteers, with all proceeds dedicated to supporting the local community and individuals in need. Over the years, more than €230,000 has already been donated to charitable causes.
The film goes beyond the framework of a traditional music documentary. It highlights the people and the community who, from humble beginnings, created an event that now surpasses conventional festival formats. Gora Rocka has become a meeting point between rural and urban worlds, a generator of new friendships, and a symbol of solidarity and volunteerism, united by a shared passion for rock music.
The film features many well-known artists, including Big Foot Mama, Vlado Kreslin, Magnifico, MRFY and others, yet the true focus remains on those who make the festival possible – locals, volunteers, and visitors who prove the power of community year after year.
The film is intended for rock music enthusiasts wishing to relive the festival atmosphere from a cinema seat, as well as for anyone inspired by heartfelt volunteer stories and the power of collaboration.
