A visually captivating story about an elderly couple who, in the vast expanses of the Bolivian highlands, face the fatal consequences of a prolonged drought. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and Bolivia’s official Oscar submission.
After the screening, film critic Matic Majcen will join us for a discussion about the film.
The European Cinema Nights, launched in 2018 in partnership with the European Commission, celebrate the richness and diversity of European cinema and highlight the role of the EU MEDIA programme in supporting film culture and the audiovisual sector.
In 2025, the initiative will expand worldwide with EULAC Cinema Nights – a special edition in collaboration with cinemas from Latin America and the Caribbean.
Alongside the EU-CELAC Summit, taking place on 9–10 November 2025 in Santa Marta, Colombia, this bi-regional celebration will showcase the strength of audiovisual cooperation between the regions.
European and Latin American cinematic voices will unite in November, as nearly 30 cinemas from 16 Latin American and Caribbean countries screen co-productions. On the European side, from 1 to 5 December, 93 cinemas from all EU Member States will join in, spotlighting films created through such international partnerships.
The initiative is jointly organised by the Creative Europe MEDIA programme, the European External Action Service, and Europa Cinemas, in collaboration with the Conference of Ibero-American Audiovisual and Cinematographic Authorities (CAACI).
