Two children and a dog on the run from the Nazis. A thrilling adventure about courage and solidarity, it has won over children and youth juries at numerous festivals around the world.
Description:
It's 1940 and Rolf flees Germany with his father to the south of France, as his father is a journalist persecuted by the Nazis at home. The only things they manage to take with them are a lively terrier named Adi and a signed book by Erich Kästner. Their destination is New York, where Rolf's mother has been waiting for them for too long. The only road to freedom leads along steep mountain paths through the Pyrenees. At the border with Spain, they meet their "smuggler" - a little girl called Nuria, a shepherdess barely older than Rolf. When Rolf's father is caught, the two children are left alone, with only Rolf's dog Adi. A city boy and a country girl could not be more different. But they are about to embark on a dangerous journey where they will have to learn from each other and start to trust each other.
