A film that explores different approaches to designing educational systems – and the consequences these approaches have for students and teachers.
Ten-year-old Palko, who has moved from Germany back to his native Hungary, struggles to adapt to a stricter school system, being used to the more relaxed atmosphere of German schools. He is accustomed to speaking and eating during lessons and working entirely at his own pace. Since he also has difficulty following orders, he is quickly labelled a “problem child.” The new literature teacher, Juci, tries to comfort him and earn his trust, as she too believes in a different approach to learning. However, in doing so, she risks becoming an outsider among her fellow teachers—just like Palko.
