At the beginning of the 20th century, the Žagar family developed an internationally significant timber industry in the Inner Carniola region. The wood conglomerate was inherited by the young brothers Line and Franci. Line, inspired by the Soviet idea of a just society, became a communist, while Franci tried to preserve the family’s wealth. World War II divided the world – and also placed the Žagar brothers on opposing sides. Eighty years later, Franci’s daughters – sisters Monika and Barbara Žagar – explore in the film what happened to their uncle and father. This animated documentary about the Žagar family tells a story of the tension between personal identity and ideology.
