Solstice at Kaštelir

Location: The village of Korte above Izola

At 5:00 PM, a guided tour of the Kaštelir Archaeological Park will begin in front of the Zadružni dom in Korte above Izola.

At 7:00 PM, the event will continue at the Kaštelir site and will include:

a performance by pupils of the Korte Branch School (Vojka Šmuc Primary School, Izola),
a performance by Marjetka Popovski, a folk song enthusiast.
The event is dedicated to the symbolic reenactment of a spiritual solstice ritual as once celebrated by the ancient inhabitants of the Kaštelir. It will feature the ceremonial lighting of a fire, an offering to the goddess Eja, music, and refreshments.
