TRAVELOGUE LECTURE: COLOURING BOOKS FROM OUR JOURNEYS – GLIMPSES FROM THE TRAVELS OF THE ROJC FAMILY: SOUTH KOREA – IN THE LAND OF HANBOKS, HOLOGRAMS AND KIMCHI

Izola City Library and the Learning Centre – Centre for Lifelong Learning invite you to a travelogue lecture following the paths of the world traveller and writer Alma M. Karlin:
“Colouring Books from Our Journeys – Glimpses from the Travels of the Rojc Family: South Korea – in the Land of Hanboks, Holograms and Kimchi.”

The Rojc family is a family with rich travel experience. They always travel independently, preferably with nothing more than airline tickets and without detailed plans. Always self-organised. Through their daily travel journals and updates from the road, they have managed to capture the attention of friends, acquaintances, travel enthusiasts and connoisseurs on social media. The reason likely lies in the fact that they travel on an average family budget, while holding regular jobs with limited vacation time, always without prior planning, spending time with local people and discovering local culture and customs. All of this is shared in words and high-quality photographs, while experiences are exchanged with those interested. They are especially proud that their positive attitude has inspired many to explore the world in their own way.

Would you like to know what the future looks like when wearing traditional slippers? What are K-pop, hanbok and bibimbap? Who are the brave haenyeo, the female free divers who bring gifts of the sea from the depths? South Korea is a land where modern rituals coexist with ancient traditions, where digital chaos blends with mountain tranquillity, and where glowing screens, the silence of tea houses and the scent of street food merge into an unforgettable experience. Everything is orderly, yet so wonderfully insane that every corner surprises. South Korea defies expectations – and that is exactly what makes it so fascinating. For lovers of travel, stories and the subtle differences that connect us, this morning, seasoned with a pinch of laughter and spice, will be just right. And yes – there will be kimchi!
