Drevored is a legendary Slovenian rock band known for their passionate music and dedication to humanism. Enver Izmaylov is a virtuoso guitarist, composer, and musical experimenter who blends jazz, funk, ethnic, and other styles in his work. Born in 1955 in Fergana, Uzbekistan, into a family of Crimean Tatars deported from Crimea in 1944, Izmaylov taught himself to play the electric guitar after graduating from music school, where he majored in bassoon in Tajikistan. He developed his unique tapping technique (known as the "spider" technique), with both hands playing on the neck of the guitar.
In the 1980s, Izmaylov was a member of the jazz-rock band Sato, which performed at Soviet and international festivals. In the early 1990s, he moved to Crimea, where he began collecting and arranging Crimean Tatar folklore. He also created solo programs, showcasing his vision of ethno-jazz synthesis. He led a trio with flutist Narket Ramazanov and drummer Rustem Bari (album Minaret, 1999).
Throughout his prolific career, Enver Izmaylov has recorded numerous albums, including The Eastern Legend (1993), With My Best Wishes! (2004), Around the Black Sea (2007), and River Of Time (2009). He has performed alongside global jazz stars such as Bobby McFerrin, Burhan Öçal, Xavier Garcia, and many others, and has participated in jazz festivals across Europe, including in Poland, Latvia, Russia, Finland, Germany, Norway, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, the Netherlands, and the UK.
Enver Izmaylov was named People's Artist of Ukraine in 2009, and won first prize at the European International Guitar Competition in Lausanne, Switzerland, among many other awards and honors. His music is renowned for its craftsmanship, originality, expressiveness, and emotional depth.
