I BENANDANTI, (music group)
The international Slovenian-Italian ensemble I BENANDANTI takes its name from the “good wanderers” who, in the 16th and 17th centuries, travelled from village to village to drive away evil spirits and curses. When they succeeded, the harvest was good...
Like their medieval predecessors, today’s I BENANDANTI travel musically across our region – Northern Italy, Veneto, Slovenia, and Austria – and beyond: up to Scotland, through the Balkans, and towards the Near East.
Their repertoire also includes Russian, klezmer, and Roma tunes.
Audiences are charmed by their wide variety of instruments – often swapped mid-performance – and by their colourful costumes.
Cristina Verita – violin, percussion
Maurizio Veraldi – organetto/accordions, percussion, bodhran
Giorgio Badin – guitar, vocals
Sašo Debelec – double bass, flutes, clarinet, mandolin
