Story:
Director Maggie Gyllenhaal presents a bold reinterpretation of a cult story, set in 1930s Chicago. The lonely Frankenstein (Christian Bale), with the help of the brilliant Dr. Euphronious (Annette Bening), brings a murdered young woman back to life — thus the Bride (Jessie Buckley) is born. But the experiment quickly spirals out of control. The Bride is not an obedient creation, but a woman with a will of her own and a dangerously rapid development. Her presence triggers a chain of events: murder, public condemnation, the rise of a radical movement, and a forbidden love that breaks social boundaries.
