St. Martin’s Festival in Izola

St. Martin’s Festival in Izola is one of the town’s most popular autumn events – a true celebration of wine, good food, and authentic Istrian conviviality. Every year, in early November, Lonka Square transforms into a lively hub for wine lovers, food enthusiasts, and those who enjoy spending time together.

Amid pleasant aromas, music, and smiles, visitors toast to the new wine during the traditional blessing of St. Martin, taste the finest wines from local winemakers, and enjoy autumn delicacies.

A vibrant music programme enlivens the day, while children can have fun and get creative in a special kids’ corner. St. Martin’s Festival in Izola is a day for friends, family, wine, joy, and the authentic Istrian spirit.

MUSIC PROGRAMME
11:00 – Cultural Society of Accordion Players Izola
11:30 – Istrski fantje
13:30 – Stevo Vujič Band
16:00 – Quintet Molet
17:30 – Choir of the Italian Community of Opatija and vocal group Silbio of the Italian Community of Savudrija

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMME
Between 11:00 and 13:00, cheerful Vanja will paint children’s faces with a variety of colourful motifs. Throughout the day, creative workshops with autumn themes will offer families a chance to have fun and spend quality time together.

ISTRIA MARKET
The market will be open from 11:00 to 19:00, offering a rich selection of:

• young wines from the coast and other Slovenian regions,

• honey, spirits, and other local products,

• handmade wooden and lavender crafts.

Culinary delights will be provided by the Hiša Dual restaurant from Izola, while the Šparžin Association will tempt visitors with delicious fritters, and the Zvon Café with sweet “cekinčki” and chestnut desserts.

Visitors will also be greeted by St. Martin, who will happily chat, pose for photos, and toast to the new wine.

SPORT AND ENTERTAINMENT
Izola has always brought together culture and sport, and the St. Martin’s weekend will also feature two exciting events:

St. Martin’s Regatta for the OPTIMIST, ILCA 4, ILCA 6, and ILCA 7 classes, organised by the Burja Sailing Club – the regatta will also count as the national championship in the ILCA 6 class.
