The aim of the meeting is to showcase the highest quality and most representative performances of amateur puppetry groups, thus encouraging the development and quality growth of amateur puppetry production. Puppet groups of all ages, forms and genres take part, regardless of their working method, expressiveness, puppetry technique or target audience (adult, youth or children's puppet theatre).

The Slovenian Puppet Groups Meeting takes place on three levels:
a) regional meetings of puppet groups,
b) regional meetings of puppet groups, and
c) the national Slovenian Puppet Group Meeting
