You are invited to the warmest part of a cold Saturday, when the exhibition of drawings by Dragan Vukmanović Vukma will open.
Dragan Vukmanović – Vukma, born in 1974 in Dubrovnik, exchanged the Pannonian Sea (Kula), where he grew up, for the Adriatic seventeen years ago. Since then, he has been living, working, and creating in Ankaran. Although it may sound like a cliché to say that art was placed in his cradle, in his case it is entirely true.
The exhibition offers insight into the artist’s sensitivity and represents – as we are all aware of the transience of time – a kind of vibrational bridge to the viewer. The impressions and images within his works draw the observer into continuous exploration and wonder, as if they came from another world, yet remain an interweaving of dreams and reality.
In his works, the author employs a range of styles, from surrealism to popular comic art, creating light forms and at the same time unusually intriguing visions – fast, as fast as life itself.
Unlike many other artists, he does not use external transfers; his works reflect his own inner reflections, clearly distinguishing him from the mass of “copy-paste” creators. His affection for pictography and for black-and-white combinations is evident, occasionally enriched with colours that are carefully harmonised and subtly woven into the composition.
It would be unfair to place the artist into any specific genre, as his works are entirely unique and therefore impossible to define precisely.
Welcome.
