Eighteen-year-old Melati has been fighting plastic pollution in Indonesia since she was six years old, together with her sister Isabel. But she is not alone in her fight for the future of the world - a brave generation of young activists is on the front lines. Melati sets off on a journey around the world to meet them: Mohammad set up schools for Syrian refugee children in Lebanon at the age of twelve, Memory is campaigning to ban forced marriages for girls in Malawi, Mary has been saving the lives of migrants crossing the sea on the Greek island of Lesbos since she was eighteen, Rene founded a newspaper in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro at the age of 11 and has been fighting for media freedom ever since, Xiutezcatl is fighting fracking in Colorado, USA, and Winnie is working in Uganda to educate communities, especially women, in sustainable agriculture.
The documentary highlights topical issues from different parts of the world. They are bravely faced by a generation of young people who have been forced to take their future actively into their own hands. Through the dialogues of young activists, the film shows a combative spark of hope for a better future. The film is supported by a rich website with in-depth presentations and materials.
