International Museum Day in Izolana
As part of the 18th International Museum Day, entry to Izolana - House of the Sea is free.
Izolana is open from Thursday to Saturday, from 11 am to 5 pm, and in addition to learning about the fishing tradition of Izola, the history of the development of Izola from an island to a peninsula, and the route of the former narrow-gauge railway - the Parenzana, it is hosting an exhibition of artworks by the local artist Žana Šuran, entitled Colourful Views: Greetings from Izola, until 20 May!
International Museum Day was proclaimed in 1977 by the International Council of Museums to raise awareness of the role of museums in the development of society. It is celebrated worldwide by more than 30,000 museums in around 100 countries.
