Lecture: Simonov Zaliv Archaeological Park – Opportunities and Challenges

The Izola City Library invites you to a lecture entitled “THE SIMONOV ZALIV ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK – OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES” as part of the European Heritage Days.

The remains of the Roman seaside villa in Simonov zaliv have been known for at least 500 years. They have been protected as a monument for a much shorter time and presented as part of the archaeological park for just over a decade. Although the setting is idyllic and almost ideal, it brings many challenges as well as opportunities. Looking back at the work completed so far and ahead to future plans, we will explore how this valuable cultural heritage can be protected in a time of increasingly extreme conditions while also being presented as effectively as possible to local residents and international visitors.

The lecture will be given by ANDREJ PRELOŽNIK, a member of the University of Primorska Science Centre team responsible for expert content and guided tours at the Simonov zaliv Archaeological Park.
