In the new show “Cholesterol Is Not a Comedy”, which combines heart health with humour, Slovenian actor and comedian Matjaž Javšnik takes the stage to raise awareness about a serious topic in the way we all understand best – through laughter.
He explores our relationship with health, the healthcare system, and the many rules we’re supposed to follow, while sharing his personal story that changed his life.
Instead of boring the audience with facts and figures about a serious medical issue, Javšnik approaches the subject with humour and universal life truths that everyone can relate to.
“People don’t realise how important health is until it’s too late,” says Javšnik. “And it’s always best to speak in the first person – when you share your own experience, people trust you more and are more willing to listen.”
The show looks at Slovenian habits that often lead to cholesterol problems, but Javšnik does not preach. Through a humorous tone, he confronts reality and encourages the audience to reflect on their own lifestyle and that of their loved ones.
“Cholesterol Is Not a Comedy” is more than just a performance – it’s a mission. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of regular checks of LDL cholesterol levels in the body to help prevent cardiovascular events.
The show was created in collaboration with the Slovenian Society of Cardiology, the Slovenian Family Medicine Association, the Heart and Vascular Health Society of Slovenia, the Federation of Coronary Clubs of Slovenia, and Novartis. It forms part of a nationwide campaign to prevent cardiovascular complications and to promote awareness of regular LDL cholesterol testing.
The performance is available exclusively online, where viewers can also find additional educational materials about cholesterol.
Take this advice to heart: laughter is already half of good health – and with a little effort, you can take care of the other half yourself.
