Location: Izola – Old Town Centre & Podestat Palace and Izolana
Organizer: Tourist Board Izola
Time: 10.00 am

As the White Sea Fish Culinary Days draw to a close, we invite you to join our guided tour, From Net to Tin. From Izolana to the old harbour, we will discover stories of fishermen, former fish processing factories and life by the sea, learning how fish made their way from the sea into a tin.
The tour will begin at Izolana, the House of the Sea, where we will spend the first hour exploring Izola’s maritime heritage and history. Through model boats, historical photographs and stories, we will follow the journey from fishing net to tin and discover how fishing and the fish processing industry shaped the town and the everyday lives of its residents.
We will then set off on a guided walk through Izola to the old harbour, connecting the museum’s stories with places we can still visit today. We will take a closer look at traditional boats, learn about their distinctive features and discover traces of Izola’s fishing past.
Children, parents, grandparents and anyone interested in discovering Izola’s fishing heritage and its connection to the sea are welcome.
