As the year draws to a close, Izola lights up with festive decorations and comes alive with a whole new rhythm. From 4 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, Ice Island returns to the seaside! Ice skating, concerts, children's performances, festive treats and cosy moments over warm drinks – there will certainly be no shortage of reasons to visit Izola this winter.

Izola becomes an island once again

Did you know that Izola was once an island? Although it has been connected to the mainland for centuries, every winter it transforms into an island once again for a few magical weeks – Ice Island!

The heart of the festive celebrations will be Pietro Coppo Park, where an ice rink by the sea, sparkling decorations, music and festive stalls will create a truly magical atmosphere. Concerts will bring Friday and Saturday evenings to life, while Saturdays will also offer special entertainment for the little ones.

And because no festive season is complete without a few surprises, Izola will also welcome St Nicholas, Santa Claus and Grandfather Frost.

New Year celebrations at Lonka

At the end of December, the festive celebrations will also move to Lonka, where we'll say goodbye to the old year and welcome the new one together.

From 30 December 2026 to 2 January 2027, Lonka will host festive concerts and social gatherings, with the highlight of course being the open-air New Year's Eve celebration. Start the new year by the sea, with great music and wonderful company!

Ice Island with Radio Capris

Radio Capris is also part of Izola's festive atmosphere. In previous seasons, the station added a special musical touch with its themed Ice Island online radio station.

Fridge with a Warm Heart

The festive season feels even more special when we do something good for others.

The Hladilnik toplega srca (Fridge with a Warm Heart) charity campaign, organised by Radio Capris in cooperation with the Slovenian Association of Friends of Youth, is once again collecting donations for children and families in need across our region.

You can contribute financially or, as part of organised collection campaigns, donate non-perishable food, personal hygiene products, cleaning supplies and other essentials. New warm accessories such as scarves, hats, gloves and slippers, as well as board games, are also welcome.

Details on donation collection and drop-off points in Izola will be announced at a later date.
