A Palace that Respects Its Past and Looks to the Future
From the very beginning of planning the reconstruction and structural renovation of the Podestà Palace, sustainability has been one of the project’s key priorities. The building, owned by the Municipality of Izola, was renovated with a focus on environmental responsibility, efficient use of resources, and the high-quality, long-term preservation of cultural heritage.
For this reason, we aim to ensure that the palace would meet the requirements of the international Green Key environmental programme for tourist attractions.
Today, the Podestà Palace is also an example of how cultural heritage and sustainable practices can be successfully connected, showing visitors that historic buildings can be given a new life without losing their unique character.

We value water and use it responsibly.
We are pleased to offer you high-quality drinking water. In our everyday operations, we make sure to use it thoughtfully. You can help too – use water sparingly and turn off the tap when it is not needed.
ENERGY
We use energy thoughtfully.
We strive for the efficient use of electricity and heating energy. We switch off lights and electrical appliances when they are not needed. Please turn off the lights when leaving the room and help us use energy more efficiently.
WINDOWS AND DOORS
Let’s maintain a comfortable temperature while using less energy.
On warmer days, careful use of windows and doors helps prevent unnecessary heating of indoor spaces, while in colder weather it helps reduce heat loss. Please keep windows and doors closed while heating or cooling is in use.
WASTE SEPARATION
What can be reused, we separate.
We separate waste and dispose of it in the appropriate containers. In this way, we help reduce the amount of waste and keep our environment clean. Thank you for separating your waste too.
SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY
Let’s explore Izola in a more environmentally friendly way.
Whenever possible, explore the town on foot, by bicycle or by public transport. This way, you will reduce your impact on the environment while experiencing Izola at a slower and more authentic pace.
