Stories of Izolana on a guided tour
In July and August, you can join a guided tour of Izolana – House of the Sea, where stories of the sea, fishing and the former fish-processing industry come to life through the guide’s narration.
Step into a world of stories that have forever connected Izola with the sea. At Izolana, you will discover the town’s fishing heritage, life by the sea and the stories of people who helped shape everyday life in Izola.
You can visit Izolana on your own from Wednesday to Saturday, between 10:00 and 13:00 and between 15:00 and 18:00. A completely different experience awaits you if you join the guided tour between 13:00 and 14:00. This is when museum objects, photographs, testimonies and audiovisual content come to life through the guide’s storytelling.
On the guided tour of Izolana, you will discover Izola’s fishing and industrial heritage, traditional vessels, the development of fishing and the lives of former workers in the fish-processing industry. You will hear the stories of generations of Izola residents who lived with the sea and from it.
The tour is also an excellent choice during the hottest part of the day, as you can retreat into the pleasant shelter of the museum while exploring Izola’s past.
